About the Press

The Seminarium Incarnatae Sapientiae (SIS), founded in 1753 by Bishop Antal Zsigmond Sztojka, has continued its academic endeavors in theological research since 2008 as the Department of Roman Catholic Pastoral Theology at Babeş-Bolyai University (Universitatea Babeş-Bolyai – UBB). Throughout its over 250-year history, alongside its teaching mission, the Department has consistently played an important role in the publication and dissemination of research findings in theology and related fields. It was in this spirit that the journal Studia Theologica Transsylvaniensia (StThTr) was established in 2000, complemented by a supplementary series, Studia Theologica Transsylvaniensia Supplementum (StThTr.S), in 2024, which publishes monographs, doctoral theses and edited volumes of studies in the following disciplines:

  • Biblical studies
  • Church History
  • Systematic Theology
  • Practical Theology
  • Studies related to theology: e.g. philosophy, literature, history

Volume Categories

  • Monograph: Peer-reviewed academic books and high-quality dissertations
  • Edited Volume:Collections of academic papers and conference proceedings reviewed by editor(s)
  • Series Doctorandorum: Collections of research papers by doctoral students, reviewed by a faculty member
